What are the advantages and disadvantages of hydrogen compressors?

Publish Time: 2019-08-30     Origin: Site

Not everything is perfect. Although the quality of the hydrogen compressor you choose is good, you must determine if this hydrogen compressor is right for you. You should understand the advantages and disadvantages of the hydrogen compressor. Which type of hydrogen compressor do you prefer? This theory is equally applicable to oxygen compressors, CO2 compressors, and the like.

point :

  • Advantages and disadvantages of piston hydrogen compressors

  • Advantages and disadvantages of centrifugal hydrogen compressors

  • Advantages and disadvantages of screw hydrogen compressors

Advantages and disadvantages of piston hydrogen compressors

advantage

1. The piston compressor has a wide range of applicable pressures, and the required pressure can be achieved regardless of the flow rate;

2. The piston compressor has high thermal efficiency and low power consumption per unit;

3. It has strong adaptability, that is, the exhaust gas range is wide, and it is not affected by the pressure level, and can adapt to a wide range of pressure and cooling capacity;

4. The piston compressor is highly maintainable;

5. The piston compressor has low material requirements and is often made of ordinary steel materials. The processing is easier and the cost is lower.

6. Piston compressors are relatively mature in technology and have accumulated rich experience in production and use;

7 . The device system of the piston compressor is relatively simple.

Disadvantage

1. The speed is not high, the machine is large and heavy;

2. The structure is complex, the wearing parts are large, and the maintenance is large;

3. Exhaust gas is discontinuous, causing airflow pulsation;

4. There is a large vibration during operation.

Advantages and disadvantages of centrifugal hydrogen compressors

A centrifugal compressor is a speed type compressor. It accelerates the refrigerant gas entering the compressor from the suction port, and then passes through the diffuser to reduce the velocity of the gas, so that the kinetic energy of the refrigerant gas is converted into potential energy, thereby completing the refrigerant from the low pressure gas to the high pressure gas. the process of.

Advantage

1. The displacement is equal, the exhaust is even, and the airflow is pulse-free.

2. High speed.

3. Lubrication is required inside the machine.

4. The sealing effect is good and the leakage phenomenon is small.

5. It has a flat performance curve and a wide operating range.

6. Less wearing parts, less maintenance, and long operating cycle.

7. Easy to automate and scale up.

Disadvantage

1. The adaptability of the operation is poor, and the nature of the gas has a great influence on the operation performance. During the unit's driving, parking, and operation, the load changes greatly.

2. The airflow speed is large, and the components in the flow passage are damaged by a large friction.

3. there is a phenomenon of asthma, the damage to the machine is great.

Advantages and disadvantages of screw hydrogen compressors

The screw compressor is a high-speed rotary volumetric compressor. The two types of rotors with helical slots mesh with each other to cause volume change for gas compression. There are no moving parts other than the two high-speed rotary screw rotors. Overcoming the shortcomings of rotary compressors (such as centrifugal compressors) and reciprocating compressors (such as piston compressors).

Advantage

1. Less parts, less wearing parts and high reliability.

2. Easy to operate and maintain.

3. There is no unbalanced inertial force. The operation is smooth and safe, and the vibration is small.

4. With the characteristics of forced gas transmission, the displacement is almost independent of the exhaust pressure, and the working conditions are adaptable.

5. The rotor tooth surface of the screw compressor is actually gapped. Therefore, it is not sensitive to wet stroke and can withstand liquid hammer.

6. Low exhaust gas temperature allows operation at higher pressure ratios.

7. The cooling condition can be adjusted steplessly, and the sliding valve mechanism is adopted, so that the cooling capacity can be steplessly adjusted from 15% to 100%, which saves operating costs.

Disadvantage

1. The rotor tooth surface is a space curved surface. It needs to be processed on expensive equipment by using special tools. The machining accuracy of the body parts is also high, and high-precision equipment must be used.

2. Since the volume between the teeth is periodically connected to the suction and exhaust ports, the compressor noise is high.

3. Due to the limitation of rotor stiffness and bearing life, the compressor can only rely on the gap seal, so the screw compressor can only be used in the medium and low pressure range, and can not be used in high pressure applications.

4. Due to the large amount of fuel injection and the complicated oil treatment system, there are many auxiliary equipments for the unit.

5. The screw compressor relies on the gap sealing gas and does not have superior performance in a small volume range.

The above are the advantages and disadvantages of different types of hydrogen compressors, you can analyze them carefully to choose the hydrogen compressor you need, so that the right hydrogen compressor will make your task more effective.
