How is the oxygen compressor cleaned?

Long-term operation of the oxygen compressor results in lime clogging of the plant, which reduces efficiency, increases energy consumption and shortens service life. If the scale cannot be removed in time, there is a risk of equipment maintenance, downtime or scrapping for replacement. Traditional cleaning methods such as mechanical processes (scraping, brushing), high pressure water and dry cleaning (pickling) have long had many problems in the cleaning of oxygen compressors: they cannot completely remove deposits such as lime and cause corrosion to the equipment. The residual acid causes secondary corrosion or limescale corrosion on the material, which eventually leads to the replacement of the equipment. In addition, the cleaning waste liquid is toxic and requires a lot of capital for wastewater treatment.


What should be considered when designing and using an oxygen compressor?

When designing and using an oxygen compressor, consider the following:

(1) It is strictly forbidden to bring the compressed gas components into contact with oil. The cylinder is lubricated with water and glycerine without oil or oil-free lubrication. Do not leave oil stains during maintenance. It must be cleaned and dried with solvent before assembly.

(2) Due to the high humidity when lubricating with water, the temperature rises again during compression, and the oxygen from the wet gas cabinet is corrosive, so the materials that come into contact with oxygen must be corrosion resistant, and good thermal conductivity require electrical conductivity. The cylinder is generally made of phosphor bronze, the piston is made of aluminum alloy and the intercooler is made of copper tube or stainless steel tube.

(3) The average speed of the piston should be lower, and the gas speed in the pipeline should also be lower than that in the air compressor.

(4) The exhaust gas temperature should not be too high, not higher than 100 to 12 °C when lubricated with water, and not higher than 160 °C when using an oil-free lubrication structure filled with polytetrafluoroethylene. The pressure ratio of each stage should not be too high.
